About The LittleNoise Choir

Simshen's Junior Youth Choir, also known as The LIttleNoise Choir was founded in 2003. In December that year, the choir participated in Singapore-organized 21st Century International Choral Festival held in Genting Highlands. The LittleNoise choir won gold in the Folk Song category and silver in the teenage category. In June 2004, Singapore had invited the Little Noise choir to perform in the Singapore’s Art Festival. Recently, the choir had also won “silver” in The Selangor Philharmonic Society’s “Group” singing competition.

Every member of the choir mastered at least one type of instrument such as guitar, piano, violin and others. Some of them even won awards and recognitions. On top of that, some of its members had experiences in the music scene for more than 5 years. A few more of the members even won prizes in musical competitions. Since its establishment, well-known tenor Low Kok Yew, the National Youth Choir’s conductor Mr. Mulu Lau and Malaysia’s top soprano, Tan Sim Sin coached the choir.

A group of teenagers who were former S.R.J.K. (C) Tsun Jin choir group left their primary school started the choir as a hobby which later evolves into one of Malaysia’s rapidly growing and a strong, wonderful choir as seen today. Now, the members also consist of teenagers from many other places. They gather under one roof in Kuala Lumpur and practice choral singing; dancing; acting; and instruments playing.

Through Mr. Mulu’s coaching, the choir had trained up to specialize in A Capella singing. Not many choir groups were able to sing so confident and impressively using that form of music because it requires accurate tempo and the right feel of the songs that is to be sung. On top of that, the singing voices had been tuned finely to mesmerize listeners of all ages. When we participated in the 21st Century International Choral Festival, winning a gold award for the folklore category and a silver award for the youth category, we also impressed the professional judges. We were given full marks for the impression, branded as one of the liveliest and musical choir.

Peter Broadbent, one of England’s highly acclaimed choral conductors, had offered his once-in-a-lifetime workshop from him especially for the LittleNoise choir, knowing our choir’s potentials. This workshop had drastically improved the choir’s performance in singing. On top of that, Peter Broadband had branded us as a very unique and rare young choir group.

29th May, 2005 the choir performed a musical entitled ‘Jungle Wonder’ which had surprisingly good responses. The concert was held at the MTC hall and was about a girl who was lost in a magical forest and her wonderful encounters throughout the jungle. The story of the musical flows with many songs sung in all Malay, English and Chinese arranged by our own members, signifying Malaysia’s uniqueness. The language used for communication was English.

The choir also organized a tour to Taipei from 21st to 28th December 2005. The choir had a joint performance with Hong Kong’s Trinity Children’s Choir and Taipei’s Success Children’s Choir. From the tour, we had exposed ourselves to foreign choir groups and had the opportunity to exchange ideas and thoughts as well as establish new relationship. Our performance had impressed the musicians of Taiwan and Hong Kong. The choir was invited to Hong Kong by Doctor Long, PhD graduate from The Juilliard School, one of the top music institutions; he is also the music director of the Hong Kong Trinity Children’s Choir. We will be performing in Hong Kong in December of year 2006.

In year 2006 & 2007, the choir held their very-own self-composed and produced musical entitled ‘Midnight Puppet’ which is about a spoiled girl who was cast a spell so that she was to exchange her body with a doll. The girl was then changed into a doll and was brought to an orphanage with other toys. That is when her adventure starts and it changed her morality.

The formation of this choir has its purpose, that is to encourage a healthy culture, increase stage experiences among the young, warm teens, and, of course, giving the talented teenagers the opportunity to stress out their abilities in the musical world.

OUR DREAMS
  • Encourage a healthy culture 提倡健康文化
  • To provide a stage for children and teens to sing and perform 让孩子们拥有发挥所长尽情歌唱表演的舞台
  • Develop teamwork, discipline and leadership among youngsters 培养年轻人的合作精神、纪律与领导能力
  • Learn skills and have fun at the same time 从玩乐中学习

OUR SONG

Listen, hear our voices sing
The LittleNoise Choir is here
We are special
We are not the same
Together we will lit your days

Watch out, see our spirits fly
The LittleNoise Choir is here
We speak one language
We share one dream
Together we will sing our ways

We’re gonna get up

We’re gonna be stars
We’re gonna work hard
Together we are one
We’re gonna take off
We’re gonna stand strong
We’re gonna hold hands
And make our dreams come true

So Come on LittleNoise
Say Yes Say High
Show them what we’ve got
Yeah ~ Bulls eye!
Let’s Clap it hard and Sing it loud
Go! Go! Go!
Go ~ LittleNoise!
